How can graphic design make a better world?
Graphic design can affectt the world in a positive or negative way, depending on the perspectives and mediums from which it is viewed. However, graphic design affects the extet to wich it orders the world, since if did not exist it would be much more chaotic , design allows us to interact with what surrounds us, through the creation of signs, pictograms, symbols, brands identity, etc
Through this process of making a better world, I see myself focused on sociocultural and political changes, so that in some way social struggles, both personal and collective become fairer through design, always contributing with respect and responsibility for a social change.
What design can really do to contribute to a better world is by solving problems, making visible and questioning global issues such as gender violence, gender identities and sexual diversity, global warming, ethnicity, etc. Graphic design by having non-verbal comumunication tools, allows to influence what we think and how we perceive the world, creating or modifying established communication languages and the stereotypes.
I had never thought that graphic design could influence society on such a scale, hopefully there will be a positive change in these cultural changes :)
